Renovator Refresher ONLINE Training from ProTech

Certification Information:

Satisfactory completion of the classroom and hands-on portions of the training, and passing the course exam, enables the trainee to be fully certified as a Renovator by the U.S. EPA to supervise and perform renovation, repair, and painting activities in target housing and child-occupied facilities.

This course meets the U.S. EPA requirements (40 CFR 745 Subpart E) under the RRP rule.

Course Description

The U.S. EPA and U.S. HUD define target housing as any housing in the U.S. constructed before 1978 with a few exceptions. EPA further defines child-occupied facilities as places built before 1978 in which a child six or under in age spends a significant time each week or year.

Persons supervising a project disturbing more than a de minimis amount of paint in target housing and child-occupied facilities must be certified as a lead renovator. Those having a current (not expired) Renovator certificate are eligible to take this course.

Participants Receive

  • EPA training manuals and Institute supplemental materials
  • Hands-on practice in
    • Using the EPA approved test kits to determine whether lead-based paint is present
    • Collecting paint chip samples
    • Setting up the project.
    • Cleaning (and verifying the cleaning) at the end of the process.
